CuMiLab is a research and prototyping think tank with an aim to establish a research-inspired practice. With a never-ending quest for knowledge, CuMiLab analyses, investigates, designs, and attempts to push the limits of the built environment.

Time is changing rapidly. Things that seemed impossible only a few years ago, are possible in the present age with rapidly progressing technology. Today’s design professionals are faced with challenges on all fronts. This means actively seeking to innovate through design research, raising the bar in building performance and adopting advanced technologies in their practice.

In a constant drive to improve design processes and services, how is it possible to implement innovations? With a never ending quest for knowledge, we want to push limits, take risks, investigate and discover. We want to constantly ask ourselves, What if? What’s Next? With this ideology CumiLab was born, a think-tank with an approach to establish research inspired by practice and practice informed by research, that embraces change and takes charge.

The lab’s goal is to create a culture that supports exploration, research, and experimentation, to deal with modern day problems and new ideas, both universal and specific. The lab aims to not only intervene in the present but also explore design possibilities in futuristic scenarios.

All research findings, ideas and prototypes explored by CumiLab are communicated to the world by volumes of books, with an intent to open a debate on architecture and the perspective it is seen through.
