Meeting Pod

Almost every workplace has a room for meetings. It's a really important space, just like desks and the coffee area. People use it for big meetings, private talks, hanging out, or even for working quietly. These rooms are really popular and are usually busy. But recently, there's been a trend of using small meeting pods in offices. These pods can fit into almost any office setup. They're like meeting rooms but they cost less, take up less room, and can be used in more flexible ways. And they bring a new environment of their own - a heaven of calm yet not isolated from the office buzz.

Meeting pods serve many of the uses of the meeting room but with less expense, less space, and more flexibility. This often means they can be placed closer to work areas and offer a convenient multi-use space for spontaneous meetings or quiet thought. Hence the team got behind this concept and ideated some meeting pods, designed to be in an existing covered terrace. With an intent of creating a space flexible for formal, informal meetings that could open up to larger crowds or be host to smaller private ones.

The images depict the working of the Fabric fins. The fins reminiscent of the motion of an accordion, here is moved progressively to broaden and create an envelope. The permutations of which, as illustrated, helps create multi-use formal, informal spaces as a user need. In this intervention, rather than sticking to a conventional movement of creating an envelope, here the idea of the envelope itself was challenged. The idea was to take as little space as possible to fold the fabric in place, when the space is not in use, but when needed could be pulled, making a closed envelope. The design of this envelope was ideated into fins with a fold-unfold logic. With the framework designed to hold these fins in place, users could get endless envelope options.
